We all sleep— but are we all getting high quality and healthy sleep every single night? The answer is most likely no. Sleep is foundational to our health and wellness and is one of the most important aspects of our health that we should be focused on. When we sleep, energy is used to repair our body. When we are getting adequate and healthy sleep, our bodies can detox molecular waste, repair our DNA and muscles and overall support several basic functions of the body. If we do not support our body’s sleep by receiving quality sleep each night, damage will inevitably happen. If the body cannot perform all of its functions while sleeping, a decline in our health and wellness will result. A contributor to some chronic diseases and health issues, including cancer, Alzheimer’s, diabetes and obesity, is poor sleep.
The main sleep issues include, insomnia, sleep maintenance insomnia, sleep apnea and mouth breathing. It is possible to support our body’s needs for restful sleep and correct these sleep issues. Poor sleep habits can lead to poor lifestyle habits and an overall lower quality of life. By focusing on getting restful sleep, not only will we be supporting our body’s needs to function and maintain health, but and added benefit is a boost of energy, productivity, vitality, focus and health-span.
